CVAA Scotland Manifesto 2026, a short, evidence‑based summary of what needs to change so adopted children, young people and adults can thrive.

The manifesto brings together the issues many adoptees and families have experienced over the years: long delays in permanence planning, inconsistent access to adoption support, and the lack of specialist help for children and young people affected by early trauma.

We hope this document provides clarity and confidence. It highlights the need for timely, trauma-informed support, the importance of children’s identity and lifelong relationships, and the challenges adult adoptees face in accessing records and mental health services. It also reinforces a clear moral case: adopted children deserve the same life opportunities as those who have not experienced early harm and loss.

Raising awareness of the needs of adopted children and families is vital. Whether by sharing lived experiences, drawing on the manifesto, or encouraging wider discussion, every contribution helps drive understanding and progress.

As an adoption service, we remain committed to supporting children who need adoption and the families who care for them.
