Adoptive parents come
from all walks of life!

You can adopt if you’re single, in a relationship, married or in a civil partnership. Adoptive parents may or may not have children already, own their own home or not, may be male or female, or be part of the LGBTQ+ community.

We do have some essential criteria that you are required to meet before you are considered:

  • Age: Adopters must be at least 21 years old.
  • Spare Bedroom: Adopters must have a spare bedroom available now or in the near future.
  • Marital Status: Both single individuals and couples (whether married, in a civil partnership, or cohabiting for at least 2 years) can adopt.
  • Residence: At least one applicant must be a British Citizen or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
  • Health and Background: Health checks, criminal background checks, social media checks, references and assessments are conducted to ensure the suitability of prospective adopters.
